AFS News & Events:
Chef at AFS Turns Out To Be
Ann Mundrick, CEC ACC
On Thursday, October 16, 2008 the AFS FLY Fitness students were pleasantly surprised by the exciting opportunity to make fried egg rolls and steamed dumplings. Chef Ann Mundrick demonstrated for the students how to fill and roll up an egg roll and how to fill a dumpling with fresh vegetables and/or meat filling.
This was a fun class and all hands were on deck chopping and preparing the vegetables for sauté. We all had a blast hand rolling the egg rolls and pinching together the dumplings. We made turkey and vegetable egg rolls, shrimp and vegetable egg rolls, vegetarian egg rolls, and turkey dumplings, and vegetarian dumplings.
The amount of food to eat was incredible as many hands made at least 4 dozen egg rolls and equal or more steamed dumplings. The dipping sauces included: mustard, duck sauce, plum sauce, soy sauce, and wasabi. Chef Ann Mundrick did the pan frying of the egg rolls and meat dumplings. The vegetable dumplings, she steamed in her professional steamer. She also made up a delicious rice noodle vegetable stir fry with chopped vegetables such as mushrooms, mini ears of corn and bean sprouts.
Thank you Chef Ann for your instruction and continuous support of the FLY Fitness program. You and your kitchen make it all come together in a wonderful way for many!
