AFS News & Events:
End of
Season FLY Fitness
Awards Banquet
The
Abington Friends School FLY Fitness first ever
winter season came to a close with an exciting new
event for the FLY students! This season student
awards were given out in 2 categories Fitness and
Cooking. With a student lead discussion, the
students nominated both male and female candidates
in both the “Best Fitness” and “Best Student Chef”
categories. It was quickly decided upon by the group
that Morgan Pfost and Rachel Jakubawitcz were
clearly the winners for the “Best Fitness” role
model respectively for the male and female category.
The
“Best Student Chef” was more of a lively discussion
with several candidates in the running for both male
and female awards. The outcome (after continued
discussion in the manner of Friends) was to come to
the consensus that Joe Krause would get the “Best
Male Student Chef” and that there was a tie for the
“Best Female Student Chef” between seniors- Katie
Gross and Melissa Bagley.
On
our last Fitness class day, the 5 award recipients
got$25 gift cards as their award along with a
certificate. The 3 Student chefs got gift cards from
Whole Foods Market. The 2 Fitness role model
students got $ 25 Visa gift cards to purchase
athletic wear at their local sporting goods store.
In
addition to the awards, all FLY students got their
bright orange team shirts, a copy of the recipes
from this semester, their own “participation
certificate” and a 2 page photo montage compiled by
FLY Fitness team coordinator and leader Laura Kahn.
In closing, it is only getting better and better in
the FLY Fitness program where the students truly are
embracing their own personal Fitness as their own
personal Lifestyle! Stay tuned as our Spring
Schedule starts on March 31, 2008!
